What to tell your therapist before you start
A few words at the start of a treatment change the whole hour. What is worth saying, and when to say it.

Nobody wants to interrupt a massage to complain. That politeness is the most common reason people leave a treatment they did not quite enjoy, and it is easily avoided.
Say it in the first few minutes
Pressure is adjusted easily at the start and awkwardly at the end. The opening minutes are when your therapist is still reading how you respond, and a sentence then is worth ten at the door.
- Point at where it is, rather than naming a muscle
- Say what you want less of, not only what you want more of
- A little deeper here is a complete instruction
- If it stops being bearable, say so at once
Your therapist would always rather be told. Being told is the only way the next hour is the one you came for.
